The
Blue Room
(School Age Program)
The Blue Room is our very busy school-age room. We
have children ages 5 to 12 years of age in this room. During the school year the
children can come to Happy Time between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:00 am. We
make sure they eat a healthy breakfast before we take them to their schools on
the Benton County Transportation Bus. This is very convenient for our parents.
We also have an after school program. Again, we pick up the kids from school so
the parents don’t have to worry about their child walking home to an empty
house! Everyone is safe and well supervised.
One more convenience Happy Time offers School-age
parents is that we are always open. We’re open for early outs, late starts,
snow days, teacher work days and vacations. We even go directly to the school to
pick up your child if the school closes for bad weather. You never have to worry
about a back-up emergency plan because we’ll be there!
During the summer we offer a full day, five day a
week program. During the summer we spend three days/week swimming, two
days/month at the library and at least two days per month going on field trips.
Our school age children are never bored! Also, when they have some extra time,
we plant gardens, play Nintendo, work on art projects and read books. There’s
something for everyone.
Laura Cook, Lead Teacher
Laura has her BA in Elementary Education and has over 10 years experience in
childcare and teaching. She has been working at Happy Time for 3 years and she
likes seeing how the kids learn and grow so quickly. She has a husband named
Justin, a one year old son and 3 dogs. She enjoys watching her husband play
softball and baseball, taking her son on walks and playing on the swings.
Emily Meyer, Assistant Teacher
Emily has 5 years experience of taking care of children through babysitting and
daycare at her church. She has worked at Happy Time for 3 ½ months and loves it
when the children do new and interesting things each day. She loves it that the
children teach her new things all the time. She lives in Garrison with her
mother who is an insurance agent, her father who is self employed and her 20
year old sister that attends ISU. Emily enjoys dancing, scrapbooking, crafts,
watching High School and College sports and relaxing with her friends.
